
Yesterday our Middle School students participated in the benchmark reward! If they showed improvement in their benchmarks, they received a piece of tape to tape our administration to the wall! Our Administration were great sports! #VikingProud

**WVSSAC Coaching Education Courses **
The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission is conducting Coaching Education Classes at Union High School in Mount Storm West Virginia. On January 22,23,25 from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The Instructor will be current UHS Athletic Director/Coach Jamie Tallman. Those individuals that are not otherwise qualified by the West Virginia Department of Education and wish to Coach any sport at the High School or Middle School level in West Virginia is required to take these classes. To register and receive more information, go the website: wvssac.org and select the tab "Coaches" then “Coaches Education” or call 304-485-5494. Space for the class is limited to first come first serve.


Tonight's Boys Basketball game has been canceled! A make up date will be determined at a later time.


On Friday we had a couple of exciting events happen here at PHS! First, Mrs. Carmen's Class explored a cultural holiday experience of the Three Wise Men. One of the Wise Men, Melchor, brought a gift of a sweet treat on Friday to the students of PHS. Then, our Middle School had their PBIS Rewards. Eligible students were able to attend the Basketball against Moorefield. #VikingProud

The 2024-2025 FAFSA was released in December of 2023. There are important changes made to the FAFSA. The Guidance Department at PHS will be offering an event to assist seniors and parents with the financial aid process and completion of the FAFSA. On February 12th starting at 4:30 pm, guidance will be assisting with completion of the FAFSA. Please register using the link provided. **STAFF SPOTLIGHT** Every Friday we are going to shine the spotlight on one of our staff members. This Friday it is Mr. Eddie Sites. Mr. Sites has been teaching in Grant County for 36 Years. He retired but has since been back to substitute teach. Mr. Sites says the best thing about working at PHS is "being able to help students succeed and be productive and successful in society." **STAFF SPOTLIGHT** Every Friday we are going to shine the spotlight on one of our staff members. This Friday it is Mrs. Ruthann Nuzum. Mrs. Nuzum. For the past 10 years, she has worked as a long-term substitute teacher for Grant County Schools. she is currently working full time as a Student Support Specialist at Petersburg High School for grades 7-9. Mrs. Nuzum says her most interesting project that she has worked on is the support that she is able to provide in her current role as the Student Support Specialist. Mrs. Nuzum says "I like the collaboration and communication within our staff that enables us to better support our students." PHS is lucky to have you Mrs. Nuzum! #Viking Proud

The Girls Basketball game tonight against Tucker has been postponed. The rescheduled date is TBD.


On Saturday, December 16th members of the National Honor Society participated in the Wreaths Across America event at Arlington National Cemetery. Along with laying wreaths on the graves of American veterans, the group watched the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown and visited the gravesite of President Kennedy.

Mrs. Parker is one of our long term substitutes that we have in our school this year. Mrs. Parker says her most interesting project that she has working on in her time here has been Middle School Student Council and taking students to the Leadership Academy in February. Mrs. Parker says that what she likes most about working at PHS is, "having the opportunity to make a positive, meaningful impact on students, academically and personally." We have some exciting activities happening next week. To help ease the tension of final exams, we will be having dress up days. Monday the 18th will be wear your pajamas to school.
