**STAFF SPOTLIGHT** Each Friday we are going to shine the spotlight on one of our staff members. This Friday is Mr. Shannon Earle. Mr. Earle has been teaching for 21 years. Mr. Earle's most interesting project that he has worked on is teaching life skills to all his students and organizing scavenger hunts around the school. All of the students at PHS enjoy the fun activities that he prepares. Mr. Earle says his favorite thing about PHS is that he is able to see the success of his students. PHS is lucky to have you Mr. Earle!

*STAFF SPOTLIGHT** Each Wednesday we are going to shine the spotlight on one of our staff members. This week is Mrs. Rebecca Brosh. Mrs. Brosh has been teaching in Grant County for 30 years with 11 years being at PHS. She has a total of 35 years in education. Mrs. Brosh says the most interesting project that she has been apart of is that she coached girls' soccer for many years. She was also the junior class sponsor for many years. Mrs. Brosh says, "I enjoy watching kids transform from shy seventh graders into amazing young adults. Our entire staff is a great group of people to work with." PHS is lucky to have you Mrs. Brosh!

Wednesday October 4th at 5:45 pm, Student Council will be hosting their Homecoming Parade. The parade will start at Petersburg High School and finish at the football field. Attached is the parade route that will be used. We hope to see everyone along the way!
The Lady Vikings fought hard against Moorefield tonight but came up short. All three games were competitive. Come out Thursday night as the take on East Hardy in another PVC matchup.
Check out the events happening next week for Homecoming Week! We have a parade on October 4th, starting at 5:45 and our Powderpuff Football Game also on October 4th starting at 7:00. (Parade routes will be posted at a later date.)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is your first step in applying for financial aid. This is your application for federal grants, federal student loans, and work-study funds. It is also used to determine eligibility for the WV Higher Educations Grant and required for other state aid programs, such as the Promise Scholarship and WV Invests Grant. Many institutions also use the FAFSA to determine eligibility for institutional financial aid.
The 2024-2025 FAFSA will not be released until December and there are important changes to the FAFSA. The Guidance Department at PHS will be offering events to assist seniors and parents with the financial aid process and completion of the FAFSA. The event on October 30th will provide financial aid information and FSA ID completion assistance. The events scheduled for December 11th and January 8th will assist with completion of the FAFSA. Ms. Brewer is most proud of having worked with the marching band as the color guard instructor for 4 years. She is also proud of the relationships she built with her co-workers as well as her students. Ms. Brewer says her favorite thing about teaching at PHS is that "I enjoy helping students learn and grow skills they need for the future. I like that I am able to do both math and music." PHS is thankful to have Ms. Brewer!

Mrs. Bava is most proud of being able to work with students on creative writing and mythology. Mrs. Bava says her favorite thing about teaching at PHS is that "I like the people I work with and how dedicated everyone is to student learning." PHS is thankful to have Mrs. Bava!
PHS Students received the opportunity to talk with and apply to WVU Potomac State College yesterday. We had 21 student apply! #VikingProud
